NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament SEC Preview

Pay per head agents know that we can answer the “What is a bookie?” question with an image. Provide the idea of the annual NCAA basketball tournament, and everyone will know what a bookie is. Bookie betting agents exist to provide basketball tournament options. With that in mind, check out everything you must know about one of the most competitive conferences in this year’s NCAA College Basketball Season, the SEC.

SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament Bracket

The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament lasts from March 8 through March 13. Check out the bracket taken from WYMT.com

Final Regular Season Standings – SEC

The SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament should produce at least three or more teams that grab NCAA Basketball Tournament bids. The basketball tournament, the one that makes everyone mad in March, will provide considerable dividends to price per head agents.

The annual SEC Tournament often produces a top seed. Based on how Alabama finished the SEC regular season, the SEC Tournament could have zero bearing on whether the conference tournament produces a top seed.

No doubt, the most successful squad heading into the SEC Tournament is the Alabama Crimson Tide. Not only is Bama an SEC Tournament 1-seed, but many believe the Tide secure a top seed in the March Madness Tournament.

Check out more about Bama’s SEC and NCAA Tournament chances and the four other teams that have secured bids to the Big Dance.

Where will the Southeastern Conference Tournament take place?

The entire Southeastern Conference Tournament will occur at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Because all games played in the tournament will happen at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn, the Tennessee Volunteers should play much better than they did to end the regular season.

The Bridgestone Arena Nashville tournament schedule shows Tennessee secured a first round bye. Other teams that have secured first round byes include Alabama, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Missouri.

Bama secured a second round bye. Kentucky also secured a second round bye. Mizzou secured a second round bye, and so did Texas A&M.

The championship game happens on Sunday March 12. The following teams must win the SEC title on Sunday March 12, to have any shot of securing an NCAA Tournament bid.

A loss at any point during the tournament at Bridgestone Arena Nashville will lead to a seat on the couch during March Madness.

LSU

South Carolina

Georgia

Ole Miss

Florida

The following teams don’t necessarily have to beat three or more teams in the tournament, make the title game, become the first team and official SEC Champion, or win their first SEC Tournament to secure March Madness bids.

If the following hoops squads perform well and play well in head to head competition during the SEC Tournament, they should attract Big Dance bids.

Vanderbilt

Auburn

Mississippi State

Arkansas

SEC Tournament Predictions

The SEC Basketball Tournament is a single elimination tournament that should be one of this week’s most watched. Teams participating in the SEC Basketball Tournament include Kentucky, one of the most storied hoops squads in history, and Alabama, one of the most consistent winning teams of the season.

Other teams that deserve mentioning in the SEC Basketball Tournament include Texas A&M, which beat Bama in both teams’ final regular season game, Arkansas, which ranked in the top ten at one point this season, and Auburn.

Tennessee, which has been in line for a 1 or 2 seed, will try to use the SEC Basketball Tournament to get a favorable NCAA tournament bracket spot after imploding in the regular season.

Overall, the winner of the tournament secures an automatic bid. Bama doesn’t require an automatic bid.

The Crimson Tide, for sure, should be the highest seed due to the SEC regular season standings. But although Alabama is in line for a 1-seed, they aren’t the pick to win it all. Check out our choices to win the SEC Tournament.

Winner: 3-Texas A&M

Second-place: 4-Missouri

Third-place: 2-Kentucky

Fourth-place: 1-Alabama

SEC Team March Madness Chances

The following teams will get bids to the NCAA Tournament even if they lose in the SEC first round.

Alabama will be seeded highest. Texas A&M should secure the second seeded highest. There’s no telling where the other teams will start their title quests in the March Madness Tournament.

Alabama 26-5

During the regular season, Alabama ruled 2023 SEC Men’s Basketball. But beating up teams like Ole Miss and South Carolina is different from taking down teams like Baylor, Kansas, and Arizona.

The Tide secured the conference tournament 1-seed by going 16-2 on the final regular season standings. Because of their finish, most expect Alabama to end up in the SEC Tournament Championship Game.

If Bama doesn’t end up in the SEC Tournament Championship Game, it may not matter regarding their seed at the NCAA Tournament.

Most feel Alabama is a legit National Championship Game contender. But there are questions. For example, although Bama has a great won lost record versus SEC squads, the Tide struggled versus a team like the Big 12’s Oklahoma Sooners.

So the won lost record in out of conference play could be better. Also, in Southeastern Conference play, the regular season champion fell to rival Texas A&M. So Bama isn’t unbeatable.

Also, the Crimson Tide is a terrible covering team, which should be music to the ears of bookmaker software agents.

Kentucky 21-10

The overall record could be more impressive. But Kentucky had one of the toughest out of conference schedules in college basketball. Big Blue played and lost against UCLA, Gonzaga, and Kansas.

The Jayhawks and Bruins are in line for 1-seeds. Gonzaga was the preseason number 1. Although they lost, Kentucky played against three of the four likely 1-seeds in this year’s tournament if we count Alabama.

Big Blue finished third in the 2023 SEC Men’s Basketball standings. However, when it comes to games played, no team surged toward the end of the season like Kentucky.

Even if the Wildcats don’t secure the SEC’s automatic bid by winning the tournament, head to head competition versus non-conference opponents like Kansas this season implies Kentucky will be tough.

Not only that but can you think of a coach more ready for March than John Calipari? Coach Cal is the March Madness coach.

The Wildcats might be a better pick to win it all than Alabama. Bookie software agents, for sure, should set max limits and use their layoff account when Kentucky hits the floor.

Texas A&M 23-8

PPH Services agents should fear Texas A&M the most among every SEC team. Savvy players will be all over A&M to the team to upset more high-profile teams like UCLA, Arizona, Kansas, Baylor, you name it.

Even a team like Houston could be in trouble. The winner receiving the Aggies in their bracket will be miserable. SEC conference standings suggest Texas A&M is the best team.

Yes, better than Alabama even though the Aggies finished second. Texas A&M finished second after a late season surge. So the conference standings don’t correctly display how a team will perform in March.

Don’t be surprised if Texas A&M is the SEC’s best performing team at the March Madness Tournament.

Tennessee 22-9

Are the Volunteers the team to excel in March? If their late season swoon is any indication, absolutely not. Tennessee begins its bid for the SEC Tourney title on Wednesday March 12.

The Vols need to perform well. Not because they’re in danger of missing out on an NCAA bid, the team is one of the top 68 in the nation, but because Tennessee requires momentum heading into the Big Dance.

If the Vols play until Saturday March 11, at the SEC Tournament, PPH services agents should consider Tennessee a legit NCAA tourney underdog.

Missouri

Games against Illinois, Kentucky, and Iowa State signaled the Missouri Tigers are a legit NCAA Tournament squad.

But although beating the Illini, the Wildcats, and the Cyclones are games that will send Mizzou to the March Madness tourney, a win against LSU in Baton Rouge might be the one the Tigers hang their hat.

Beating LSU, even if the Tigers are terrible, in Baton Rouge is a significant accomplishment. On the flip side, Mizzou lost to Mississippi State on the road by eleven points.

If the LSU beating Missouri Tigers show up, the team has enough talent to cause NCAA tourney waves. But if the team that dropped the contest to Mississippi State shows up, Missouri and their fans could be disappointed.
