No. 18 Colorado at Home Against Colorado State
Probably the most talked about team this season is the Colorado Buffalos. They were unranked when they upset (formerly) No. 17 TCU. On the weekend, they took care of Nebraska 36-14. This week, they should have no problem getting past Colorado State, but by how much? They are 2-0 ATS so far and are 22.5-point favorites.
Colorado State lost to Washington State 50-24. I don’t think they’ll do as well against the Buffaloes, who will cover the spread.
No. 14 LSU Tigers to Visit Mississippi State Bulldogs
LSU’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels, had five touchdown passes last week. Against Mississippi State last year, Daniels had 303 total yards. He is a powerhouse that drives the offense.
The Tigers dropped their opener against the Florida State Seminoles but recovered in Week 2 by crushing Grambling State. They need to show they’re back by beating an SEC East rival and covering the spread.
The Bulldogs have improved under Zack Arnett, but is it enough? They’ve won both their games this season, including their Week 2 win against the Arizona Wildcats. The Bulldogs will have to force multiple turnovers like they did against Arizona to compete. They still won’t win, but it might be close.
No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers Enter The Swamp in Florida
The Volunteers haven’t won in The Swamp since 2003. That’s a 20-year streak that the Vols plan to crush this weekend, and they have the offense to do it. They rank fourth in the FBS with 257.5 rushing yards per game. A big part of that is done by junior running back Jaylen Wright, who covered 233 rushing yards on 25 carries.
Quarterback Joe Milton is clearly better than Florida’s Graham Mertz, and Tennessee put up 24 more yards per game and 19 more points than Florida. They are favored to win by only 7.5 points, which seems a little light. It must be because they are on the road and haven’t won there in 20 years. Whatever happens, it’ll be an exciting ride. Keep your limits in.
No. 8 Washington Huskies Visit Michigan State Spartans
When these teams met last year, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. passed for 397 yards and four touchdowns to win 39-28. The Spartans have home-field advantage, but with head coach Mel Tucker suspended without pay pending a formal hearing, the team might be distracted and unfocused.
They should still be able to slow down the Huskies’ high-energy passing attack to keep the spread below the 16 points given to Washington.
South Carolina Gamecocks Visit the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia has won the last three meetings by an average of 30.3 points per game. The fact that they’re only favored by 26.5 points this time is a good sign for the Gamecocks.
South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler completed 25 of 27 passing attempts for 345 yards and three touchdowns against Furman in Week 2. Unfortunately, the Gamecocks only average 53 rushing yards per game, which could spell trouble. A one-dimensional offense won’t stack up against the Bulldogs’ impressive defense. Still, the Bulldogs will have a difficult time covering that 26.5-point spread.
