College Football Week 6 2023 Preview. Conference play is heating up as the teams are jostling for position to compete for playoff contention.
Week 6 Top 25 Ranked Schedule
Louisville was added to the bottom of the top 25 after going 5-0 last weekend. They are replacing Kansas, who lost on Saturday. And Kentucky stepped into the list after taking down (and out) the Florida Gators. Below are the games for the top 25 ranked teams.
Saturday, October 7
- 1 Georgia (-14, 48) vs No. 20 Kentucky
- 2 Michigan (-19.5, 47.5) at Minnesota
- 3 Texas (-5, 59) vs. No. 12 Oklahoma
- 4 Ohio State (-17.5, 55.5) vs. Maryland
- 5 Florida State (-25.5, 53) vs. Virginia Tech
- 9 Southern Cal (-21.5, 72) vs. Arizona
- 10 Notre Dame (-6.5, 52.5) at No. 25 Louisville
- 11 Alabama (-3, 50) at Texas A&M
- 13 Washington State at UCLA (-4.0, 59)

- 16 Ole Miss (-11, 62.5) vs. Arkansas
- 17 Miami (Fla) (-20.5, 59.5) vs. Georgia Tech

- 24 Fresno State (-6.5, 46.5) at Wyoming
Oklahoma and Texas are the Last Remaining Big 12 Undefeated Teams
These two heavy hitters will meet Saturday to decide which one will remain undefeated. They are the only ranked teams in the Big 12 conference, but both are moving to the SEC next season. What a buildup to the Red River Showdown in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
With a win, Oklahoma would not only be the frontrunner in the Big 12, they would probably move up the rankings above Alabama or maybe even Notre Dame. Dillon Gabriel passed for 366 yards and three touchdowns against Iowa State last Saturday. He also ran for two touchdowns in their 50-20 win. Have they improved enough to avenge their 49-0 loss to Texas last year?
Texas has already played two ranked teams, beating them both. They won against a previously undefeated Kansas team last week, knocking them out of the rankings. Jonathon Brooks had 217 rushing yards and two touchdowns. This should be a decisive win for the 5-point favorites, but can the Longhorns cover?
Two Undefeated Teams in the SEC East Meet
The Georgia Bulldogs were tested last Saturday when they had to come from behind to beat Auburn last Saturday. Tight end Brock Bowers was the main reason for the win. He had eight catches for 157 yards and the game-winning touchdown. That’s two comeback wins that either show the team has character and never gives up, or they’re getting sloppy and are showing some kinks in their armor.
Kentucky’s win over No. 22 Florida was so decisive that it knocked the Gators out of ranking and brought the Wildcats into ranking, jumping all the way to No. 20. Kentucky’s running back Ray Davis ran for 280 yards and touchdowns. He hit the 200-yard mark well before halftime. Georgia is still the heavy favorite in this one, with a 14-point spread. But if Kentucky can continue to run the ball well, don’t expect Georgia to cover the spread.
SEC West Challengers: Alabama at Texas A&M
The Crimson Tide didn’t have a great start to the season but have since beaten two SEC West rivals, Mississippi State and previously undefeated Ole Miss. Their only loss was against the Longhorns in Week 2. Alabama has had trouble with the Aggies, so this could be a backyard brawl to cement SEC West supremacy.
The Aggies lost starting quarterback Conner Weigman to injury for the rest of the season, but backup Max Johnson is an LSU transfer with SEC experience. This will be his second start. If Johnson can continue to improve, he could upset the Tide, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
The Battle of the Tigers
The LSU Tigers have struggled to stay on the ranked list and will be visiting the No. 21 Missouri Tigers. Missouri is undefeated, while LSU is the only ranked team that is 3-2. LSU dropped from 13th to 23rd position this week. A loss this Saturday would knock them out of ranking and all but take them out of the playoff race. LSU is favored by 6.5 points, so there is hope they can stay in the race.
But look to Missouri quarterback Brady Cook to upset the spread. He’s already passed for 1,468 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, averaging 10.4 yards per pass play. Keep your limits in for this one.
