College Football Week 14 2023 Preview. Almost every game this weekend is between ranked teams, but the Sun Belt Championship is between two unranked squads. James Madison (11-1) was not qualified to play because of NCAA rules. Hopefully, they only get better next year when they’re eligible to be in the championship.

Pac-12 Championship – Washington Huskies vs. Oregon Ducks
The weekend starts Friday with the Conference USA Championship between No. 20 Liberty and New Mexico State. That’s followed by the Pac-12 Championship between No. 3 Washington and No. 5 Oregon. The Ducks are the heavy favorites here, even though they lost the last matchup earlier in the season, 36-33.
That game on October 14th was one of the best of the regular season, sporting the top two Heisman Trophy candidates, Bo Nix (+110) and Michael Penix Jr (+140).
The Huskies might be undefeated, but they’ve struggled in some games since beating Oregon. Meanwhile, the Ducks have been crushing all the teams they’ve come up against since their only loss to the Huskies. Still, Oregon must win this encounter to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Big Ten Championship – Michigan Wolverines vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
In the biggest spread of the championship series, the Hawkeyes have no delusions of winning this game, but they could cover the spread. Michigan hasn’t scored more than 31 points in their last three games, and they’re going up against the Hawkeyes’ elite defense. Only once this season has Iowa’s defense allowed more than 16 points. Unfortunately, they have only once scored more than 15 points in the last six games.
I think it’s safe to say that their defense has gotten them ten wins because their offense under quarterback Deacon Hill relies on field position to shorten drives and score their points.
Michigan has won this championship three years in a row. This year, they’ve run for over 2,000 yards and have an excellent passing game led by J.J. McCarthy. I don’t think even Iowa’s super defense will be able to slow the Wolverines down. Michigan will win and cover the spread.
SEC Championship – Georgia Bulldogs vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
In the past five years, these two teams have met at this championship three times, and Alabama has won each game. Georgia looks to break that streak and is a five-point favorite. They won last week against Georgia Tech despite missing three of their top five receivers.
This game is pivotal as the Bulldogs set a record last week with their 29th win in a row (third straight undefeated regular season). If the Tide wins, what happens to Georgia? They could potentially get tossed from the final four—lots of drama. If the Dawgs win, they just keep their winning streak going. That’s not as exciting.
ACC Championship – Florida State Seminoles vs. Louisville Cardinals
It’s a good thing that the Cardinals had clinched their spot in the championship because they lost their last game to 6-5 Kentucky. Whatever minute chance they had of making it into the CFP is now gone. But they still want to win this championship almost as much as the Seminoles.
Florida State has a slight chance of making the College Football Playoff if they can defeat Louisville. Their biggest issue is losing their starting quarterback, Jordan Travis, to a season-ending ankle injury two weeks ago. They were able to keep their undefeated streak going last week with backup Tate Rodemaker, who can rely on his defense and running backs to help him win against Louisville.
