NFL Football Week 12 2023 Preview

NFL Football Week 12 2023 Preview. Thursday and Friday have the longer spreads of the weekend, except for the Sunday night game between the Chiefs (-9) and Raiders. Thursday even has a double-digit spread between the Commanders and the Cowboys (-11). Six games have a spread of two or fewer points. One of those is even a pick. Get ready for some high-intensity matchups this weekend.

The Texans Are Vying for Top of the AFC South

The preseason odds of the Texans winning the division were +1100. The Jaguars’ odds were -155. Jacksonville has the better record, but if they lose this next game, Houston will overtake them. That would be one hell of an upset. The Jaguars are no slouch this season, beating all but the top teams like the Chiefs and 49ers… and the Texans.

Houston has won 10 of their last 11 meetings. Even when C.J. Stroud makes rookie mistakes, he finds ways to come back and win. He had three turnovers in Week 9 against the Bengals but came back with a game-winning drive. In Week 10 against the Cardinals, he threw three interceptions but threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns to get the win.

Stroud has 2,962 passing yards, which is second in the NFL. Trevor Lawrence has 2,382. The Texans have won their last three games under first-year coach DeMeco Ryans, while the Jaguars have won six of seven games after losing to Houston in Week 3. Which team wants this win more?

The Broncos Will Take the Wins No Matter How They Come

Denver has won four straight games, but they’ll be facing Cleveland’s elite defense, which will keep pressure on Russell Wilson to take him off his game. DeShaun Watson is still out for the Browns, but Dorian Thompson-Robinson is getting comfortable under center.

The Broncos won against the Bills in a fluke play to end the game. Denver missed a field goal, but Buffalo was penalized for having too many players on the field. Against the Vikings, they were able to capitalize on a receiver that the Vikings refused to cover in the final five minutes.

Can the Broncos rely on luck to get them by the Browns? It’s a coin toss, so keep your limits in.

The Bills Have a Tough Grind Ahead

Buffalo faces the top team in the NFL this Sunday before playing the Chiefs and then the Eagles. Their only chance this weekend is to focus on the pass. The Eagles are giving up an average of 248.1 yards per game in the air, which ranks 28th in the league. Usually, that wouldn’t be a problem for Josh Allen. He’s thrown the most passing touchdowns in the league, but he’s also thrown the most interceptions (12).

The Eagles’ biggest concern will be whether Allen can connect with all his available receivers, Khalili Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and Stefon Diggs. Philadelphia has a short week to prepare for this game but will be at home, and Buffalo has only won one away game this season. I don’t see them improving that stat.

Vikings Know How to Cover the Spread

Sure, Minnesota finally lost after having a five-game winning streak, but they still covered the spread. They are now 7-3-1 ATS, tied for the best in the league. Joshua Dobbs didn’t do all that, but he’s lit a fire under the team. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who has rushing touchdowns in five straight games. Their biggest challenge will come from facing the Lions twice before the end of the season and the Packers once. That should decide the lead in the AFC North.

Chicago has only one win on the road this season, but Justin Fields is turning things around. He had the Lions worried in Week 11. I doubt they’ll add to their road wins against the Vikings. The Minnesota coaches will fix the defensive holes that allowed Denver to win last week, and Dobbs will do the rest. Expect the Vikings to win and cover this week.
