March Madness Sweet 16 Odds

March Madness Sweet 16 Odds. The first and second rounds of March Madness are done, and the next leg of the tournament will take place this weekend. One of the surprising outcomes so far is that all of the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams have made it through to the Sweet 16 round.

We cover the top teams left to see which ones are expected to make it to the Final Four.

March Madness Sweet 16 Odds

East Region

No. 5 San Diego State vs. No. 1 UConn (-10, 135)

No. 3 Illinois vs. No. 2 Iowa State (-2.5, 146)

South Region

No. 4 Duke vs. No. 1 Houston (-4, 133.5)

No. 11 NC State vs. No. 2 Marquette (-6.5, 150.5)

West Region

No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 1 UNC (-4, 174)

No. 6 Clemson vs. No. 2 Arizona (-7.5, 151)

Midwest Region

No. 5 Gonzaga vs. No. 1 Purdue (-4.5, 154)

No. 3 Creighton vs. No. 2 Tennessee (-2.5, 144)

UConn Huskies

For most of the season, the Huskies have been the favorite to win the tournament, which is why they have the best odds to win (+210). They dominated their opponents in the first two rounds, beating No. 16 Stetson 91-52 and No. 9 Northwestern 75-58. On Thursday, they will take on No. 5 San Diego State in the Sweet 16 round. It will be a repeat of last year’s championship game – even the outcome.

Houston Cougars

The Cougars might be the second-best team in the tournament, but they almost lost in the second round against No. 9 Texas A&M, who hit the buzzer beater to force overtime. Houston ultimately won 100-95.

They have an exceptional defense and can win every game as long as they score at least 68 points. They are 25-0 when they hit that low mark. But when Jamal Shead is struggling, so will their offense.

Purdue Boilermakers

The Boilermakers don’t want to take any chances after losing last year’s first round against No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson. In the first two rounds, they overwhelmed No. 16 Grambling State 78-50 and No. 8 Utah State 106-67. Led by 7-foot-4 Zack Edey, the Boilermakers are a talented bunch and one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country.

Arizona Wildcats

As the top No. 2 team in the nation, Arizona has better odds to win the tournament than the No. 1 team in its region (North Carolina). They have had their ups and downs this season but are almost unbeatable when sophomore point guard Kylan Boswell plays well.

The schedule is on their side because the next two rounds are in Los Angeles, while the Final Four is in nearby Phoenix. But don’t expect them to cover the spread against Clemson.

North Carolina Tar Heels

With four veteran leaders, this team has plenty of firepower. RJ Davis, Armando Bacot, Harrison Ingram, and Cormac Ryan have shown they can guide the Tar Heels to victory against any team. They are great at rebounds and defense without too many turnovers. UNC is currently 16-0 when scoring 84 or more points. They should be able to improve that record against Alabama, which doesn’t play with much defense.

Watch for the over/under on this game. It could get out of hand.
