Green Bay Packers 2023 Preview

Green Bay Packers 2023 Preview. It might be the smallest city in the NFL, with a population of around 105,100, but they have a fiercely loyal fan base that has kept the team in Green Bay for almost a century. They keep them loyal by producing a winning team.

Green Bay Packers NFL Regular Season Schedule

Before getting into the Packers’ prospects for the season, check out Green Bay’s schedule for NFL Week 1 through NFL Week 18.

  • Week 1 at Chicago Bears
  • Week 2 at Atlanta Falcons
  • Week 3 vs. New Orleans Saints
  • Week 4 vs. Detroit Lions
  • Week 5 at Las Vegas Raiders
  • Week 6 Bye
  • Week 7 at Denver Broncos
  • Week 8 vs. Minnesota Vikings
  • Week 9 vs. Los Angeles Rams
  • Week 10 at Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Week 11 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
  • Week 12 at Detroit Lions
  • Week 13 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
  • Week 14 at New York Giants
  • Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Week 16 at Carolina Panthers
  • Week 17 vs. Minnesota Vikings
  • Week 18 vs. Chicago Bears

Packers’ Offensive Success Depends on Jordan Love

Love was drafted in 2020 as Green Bay’s first-round pick but has watched from the sidelines as Aaron Rodgers has started every game but one. Love played against the Kansas City Chiefs when Rodgers was down with COVID in 2021. In 2022, he had a few opportunities to play, but they were usually at the end of the game when the winner was inevitable.

He did play against the Eagles when quarterback Rodgers was injured. The Packers were down by 14 points, but there were still 11 minutes left to play. In only three throws, Love brought the Packers within seven points. On his next drive, he came very close to repeating. They lost, but Love showed what he was capable of. He made quick decisions with accurate, on-time throws.

He’ll have one of the youngest receiving players in the NFL when he starts in September. That includes receivers Christian Watson (second season), Romeo Doubs (second season), Jayden Reed (rookie), and tight end Luke Musgrave (rookie).

Because the receivers are so young, Love will rely on the offensive line and running backs to pull up the slack when he missteps. Tackle David Bakhtiari and guard Elgton Jenkins are a couple of the best in the NFL to man the line. In the backfield are Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, who can carry the ball when Love struggles with his passing game.

What the Green Bay offense receivers lack in experience, they will make up for in talent, youth, energy, and enthusiasm. It’s sure to be an exciting start to their season. Luckily, they are taking on easier teams before they go on their bye in Week 6. Their first big test will likely come in Week 8 against the Vikings, who won last year’s NFC North division. I shouldn’t discount the Detroit Lions in Week 4 since they edged past Green Bay in the final standings for the first time since the 2017-2018 season.

Green Bay May Lean on their Defense this Season

The Packers will have most of their talent returning this fall, including seven former first-round picks. And they’ve added one more. As their No. 13 pick in the first round, they drafted 21-year-old linebacker, Lukas Van Ness.

Last season, they were inconsistent, which was their biggest weakness. They made some personnel and system changes late in the year that improved their rushing yards allowed from 154.8 per game to 103 in the last five games. They also doubled their takeaways from 12 to 24.

Packers Sportsbook Software Action Predictions

Green Bay’s odds this year, so far…

To win the NFC North – +475

To win the NFC – +3000

To win the Super Bowl – +6600

Regular season win total – 7.5 (-103)

Jordan Love MVP odds – +5000

Their win total is expected to be less than it was last season. That’s probably because they no longer have Aaron Rodgers, but he wasn’t at his top form in his previous year with the Packers. In fact, he posted some of his worst numbers. Unless Jordan Love and some of the young receivers fall flat on their faces, Green Bay should be able to pull off more wins than that.
