NCAA March Madness Final Four Preview. The March Madness Men’s College Basketball Final Four is here. Midwest Region winner Miami-Florida upset the Texas Longhorns to stamp their ticket to the top men’s college basketball prize.
The Connecticut Huskies dominated the Gonzaga Bulldogs 82-54 to win the West Region. UConn and Miami throw down in the second semifinal on Saturday.
The March Madness continued in the Elite Eight on the other side of the bracket. No team represents March Madness as much as the 9-Florida Atlantic Owls, and the Owls stamped their ticket to the Men’s Final Four by outlasting favored Kansas State.
The South Region went to 5-San Diego State. Although the Aztecs were the higher seed over the Creighton Blue Jays, most believed Creighton would win and play for the National Title.

Dan Hurley – UConn Huskies
Although this is Hurley’s first trip to the Final Four, the Huskies head coach comes from basketball royalty. Hurley played for Seton Hall.
Dan’s brother Bobby played for the Duke Blue Devils. Bobby Hurley won two titles while with the Blue Devils, once as a senior guard.
Jim Larranaga – Miami-FL Hurricanes
Saturday will be Jim Larranga’s second trip to the Final Four. While the HC for the men’s basketball program at George Mason, Larranga took the Patriots to the four teams tournament in 2006.
Larranga has the most experience of the coaches who are at the Final Four.
NCAA Tournament Teams – How They Got Here
Florida Atlantic Owls
FAU lost three games this season. The record proved the Owls were a potential elite team. The East Region winner beat 9-Memphis in game one, 16-Fairleigh Dickinson in game two, 4-Tennessee in game 3, and 3-Kansas State in the Elite Eight on their way to the final weekend.
San Diego State Aztecs
Many expected SDSU to struggle in their first game. But San Diego State beat Charleston. Then in the second round game, San Diego State dominated 13-Furman.
SDSU’s victory over 1-Alabama Crimson Tide was a game between two teams with different philosophies. The Aztecs’ mindset, and defense-first attitude, won out.
UConn Huskies
Connecticut provided one of history’s most amazing Elite Eight wins on Saturday night. The Huskies beat Gonzaga so severely in the game that almost every oddsmaker and sports betting software handicapper in the nation made the Huskies the men’s basketball chalk to cut down the nets in the championship game on April 3.
Miami-FL Hurricanes
Miami’s deep run to the Final Four began with a victory against Drake. Then in their game versus Indiana, Miami rolled.

FAU was a Selection Sunday mystery; many believed the Conference USA winner would attract a 5 to 7-seed. But the Owls got a 9.
FAU is a team that thrives on three-point shooting. The Owls could be in some trouble on Saturday, though. The reason? FAU also turns the ball over, and the Aztecs are great at forcing turnovers.

Forward Norchad Omier can contain Connecticut’s big Adama Sonogo. The Huskies winning this men’s basketball game isn’t a lock.
Miami is on a mission. 6′ 7″ guard Jordan Miller went 13-of-13 from the free throw line and 7-of-7 from the field against Texas.

Both teams play excellent defense and have a great offense. Miami’s offense is better than San Diego State’s.
SDSU’s defense is better than Miami’s offense. The difference could come down to who wants it more. In that sense, it’s difficult to see a team that wants it more than the Miami Hurricanes.
The Canes shut down Houston guard Marcus Sasser in the Sweet 16. Miami rallied from 13 down versus favored Texas and their excellent guard Marcus Carr in the Elite Eight.
