New York Knicks Recent Scores: 11 Winning Streak
The Knicks have had an easier time getting to the finals than the Spurs. The first round against the No. 6-seed Hawks went six games, but the next two rounds were sweeps.
The Knicks beat the 76ers in the Conference semi-finals, who just came off a grueling seven-game series against the No. 2 seed Celtics. New York won two of those games by 30 points or more.
In the Conference Finals, they took on the Cavaliers, who also came off a grueling seven-game series against the No. 1 seed Pistons. Game 1 went to overtime, but the remaining three were decisive wins, including the final game, which New York won 130-93.
San Antonio Spurs Recent Scores: Youth and Talent as Ally
The Spurs had an easier time in the first round, beating the Portland Trail Blazers in five games, but it got tougher against the Timberwolves, which took six games. Their two losses were by only two and five points, respectively. Their wins were mostly by decisive margins.
Playing the top team in the league, who were the reigning champions, was a completely different experience. The Spurs were generally the underdog against the Thunder and were down three games to two at one point. Their ability to overcome the Thunder was miraculous, or as Spurs writer Jared Weiss put it, “They gained true playoff experience battling the Thunder and had just enough talent to buy the time to figure it out.”
