Timberwolves vs Spurs Game Analysis: No Home Advantage
Game 5 takes place May 12 in San Antonio. The Spurs have one of the best home records in the league (32-8), but they haven’t been able to capitalize on it through this series. They look like the better team overall, especially at home, but both teams have won one at home and one away.
Minnesota continues to have depth issues as they will be without Donte DiVincenzo for the season. San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama was ejected in Game 4 but not suspended. He should be back for Game 5. Continue reading to see which team is more prepared to win this game 5 with our Timberwolves vs Spurs prediction at PayPerHead.
Minnesota Timberwolves Recent Scores
The Wolves entered the playoffs as the 6th seed, facing the 3rd seed Denver Nuggets in the first round. The only game that was relatively close was Game 2, which the Timberwolves won 119-114. The remaining games had double-digit spreads.
The Wolves lost the first game in Denver, 116-105, as expected, since two of their key players, Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo, were injured. But they came back to win the next three, and ultimately won the series 4-2.
San Antonio Spurs Recent Scores
The San Antonio Spurs finished the regular season with 62 wins and 20 losses as the No. 2 seed, only 2 wins behind the Thunder.
In the first round of the playoffs, they easily won Game 1, 111-98, before losing a close one in San Antonio, 103-106. Whatever glitch happened in Game 2 never recurred, as San Antonio won the next three games by at least 12 points each.

Timberwolves vs Spurs History
The teams met three times during the regular season, with the home team always ending up on top. The last two games had a 3-point spread or less.
- Nov 30, 2025: Spurs 112 – 125 Timberwolves (at Minnesota).
- Jan 11, 2026: Spurs 103 – 104 Timberwolves (at Minnesota).
- Jan 17, 2026: Timberwolves 123 – 126 Spurs (at San Antonio)
Having home court hasn’t been an advantage (yet) in this playoff series.
- Game 1, May 4: Timberwolves 104 – 102 Spurs (at San Antonio).
- Game 2, May 6: Timberwolves 95 – 133 Spurs (at San Antonio).
- Game 3, May 8: Spurs 115 – 108 Timberwolves (at Minnesota).
- Game 4, May 10: Spurs 109 – 114 Timberwolves (at Minnesota)
After the Wolves surprised the Spurs with a Game 1 win, San Antonio came back with a vengeance in Game 2, with a dominating 133-95 performance. The Spurs won again in Game 3, before the Wolves regrouped and had an amazing performance in Game 4:
- Anthony Edwards scored 36 points, 16 in the 4th quarter
- Six Timberwolves players scored double digits
- Rudy Gobert contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds
Timberwolves vs Spurs Prediction: Spurring Confidence
The San Antonio Spurs dispensed with the No. 7 seed Portland Trail Blazers in five games (4-1). So why are they having difficulty with the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves? I think the No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets had the same question in the first round.
Unless the Spurs can resolve this dilemma, we could see another upset. With the Wolves stealing Game 4, expect the Spurs to clamp down and get the all-important Game 5 win. The home crowd will be ready to support this one.
Spurs are favored by about 10 points. Minnesota’s only chance will be another gargantuan effort
by Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert controlling the paint. Our Timberwolves vs Spurs prediction is a strong performance and win by the home team, Spurs over Wolves 112-105.
