Thunder vs Spurs Game Analysis: Can Spurs Extend?
Game 6 will be held on May 28 and could be the final game of the series if Oklahoma City has its way. They hope to close out this series in six because they are such physical games. With the Knicks finished in four, they’ll be well rested for whichever team they have to take on. Continue reading to discover which team is ready to win this Game 6 with our Thunder vs Spurs prediction at PayPerHead.
Oklahoma City Thunder Recent Scores: Deep Bench
In Game 5, Jared McCain scored 20 points in his first playoff start for the Thunder. He got the call because Jalen Williams is sidelined with a left hamstring strain, and Ajay Mitchell is out with a right soleus strain (part of the calf muscle).
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 32 points and nine assists.
San Antonio Spurs Recent Scores: Low Efficiency
The Spurs made only 12 3-pointers on 41 attempts Tuesday night. That alone made the difference in this high-scoring game. Victor Wembanyama was held to 20 points (missing all five of his 3-point attempts). He hasn’t been able to string two great performances together. But that means he should be able to shine in Game 6.
Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 24 points and five rebounds.
Energy and effort on both ends always. Shoutout Dev 🫡#WallpaperWednesday | @HEB pic.twitter.com/RIleYNLYzJ

Thunder vs Spurs History: Unpredictable
Five-game series recap:
- May 18: Spurs 122 – 115 Thunder (Wembanyama: 41 points, 24 rebounds. Caruso: 31 points)
- May 20: Spurs 113 – 122 Thunder (Gilgeous-Alexander scores 30 points)

- May 24: Thunder 82 – 103 Spurs (Wembanyama is back with 33 points)
- May 26: Spurs 114 – 127 Thunder (Thunder held lead from 2nd quarter)
Game 5:
| Team | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | T |
| SA | 27 | 31 | 33 | 23 | 114 |
| OKC | 29 | 40 | 32 | 26 | 127 |
In the second quarter, the teams combined to make 29 free throws, but that’s where the Thunder moved ahead, scoring 40 points and never giving up the lead. The Spurs did cut their deficit near the end of the third quarter, but a couple of missed calls by the refs had them upset, and they never recovered.
Thunder vs Spurs Prediction: High Entertainment Value
On Tuesday night, Oklahoma City’s bench outscored San Antonio’s, as it has in every other game. In Game 4, San Antonio’s reserves did almost as well as OKC’s, but in Game 5, the Thunder’s bench outshone the Spurs’ significantly. If San Antonio expects to win on Thursday, their bench will have to step up and match OKC’s.
Even with the Thunder’s injuries (Williams and Mitchell), McCain and Caruso stepped up to the challenge in a huge way. OKC’s roster is so deep that even with injuries, they are formidable opponents.
This is Wembanyama’s first NBA playoffs, and his inexperience shows in the Spurs’ losses. But one thing is certain: when Wemby plays well, his whole team plays well. When he doesn’t, his team follows suit. He also tends to only have one bad game in a row, so he’s due.
Our Thunder vs Spurs prediction is for a high-energy contest that could be the best game yet in the series, with the Spurs desperately trying to stave off elimination. They will pull off a spectacular win over the Thunder with Wemby leading the way, 118-112.
