The Raptors finished the regular season with 46 wins, leading the pack of 6 teams which vied for the No. 5 seed. Each game counted right up until the final, which Toronto won against the Brooklyn Nets 136-101.

It was also Atlanta’s loss to Miami and Orlando’s loss to Boston, which gave Toronto the No. 5 seed in the East. Toronto tied with the Hawks, who also had 46 wins, but since the Raptors swept the season series 4-0, they finished ahead.

This is the Raptors’ first playoff birth in four seasons.

Cleveland Cavaliers Recent Scores

The Cavaliers (52-30) ended the season just one win behind the Knicks (53-29). They rested most of their regulars in their final game against Washington, but still won 130-117.

Cleveland was guaranteed at least the No. 4 seed in the East after their win against the Atlanta Hawks (122-116) on April 8. They were only 1/2 a game behind the Knicks for the No. 3 seed.

But then they lost against the Hawks 2 days later, 102-124, and the Knicks beat the Raptors on April 10 (112-95) to clinch the No. 3 seed.

  • Game 1, April 18: Cavs 126 – 113 Raptors (at Cleveland). Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell scored 32 points, marking the ninth straight season opener in which he’s added 30 or more points. It’s an NBA record. Max Strus had 24 points, which is a playoff career high.
  • Game 2, April 20: Cavs 115 – 105 Raptors (at Cleveland). The Cavaliers had at least 3 players score 25 or more points, marking the 2nd straight playoff season they’ve done that. Cleveland never trailed. The win gave them 12 straight playoff wins against Toronto, tying the NBA postseason record for consecutive wins against an opponent.
  • Game 3, April 23: Cavs 104 – 126 Raptors (at Toronto). The Raptors came back big to break the losing streak against the Cavs. Scottie Barnes had career playoff highs of 33 points and 11 assists, while RJ Barrett had his own career playoff-high 33 points.
  • Game 4, April 26: Cavs 89 – 93 Raptors (at Toronto). What are the odds that both teams would struggle with their shooting? They especially struggled with 3-pointers. The Raptors missed 14 consecutive attempts.

The Cavaliers are currently favored by 8.5 points. They are relatively healthy, while the Raptors are without Immanuel Quickley for the series.

Fans from both teams wish to forget Game 4 ever happened, as it was an error-filled mess. With Cleveland playing exceptionally at home, they have the advantage in Game 5.
