76ers vs Celtics Game Analysis
The Celtics have won three of their last five games. One of the losses was to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the top team in the league. Imagine scoring 116 points in a game and still losing by seven. They have eight wins in their last 10 games, which is why they are in second place in the Eastern Conference. Continue reading our 76ers vs Celtics prediction article to see which team has the best chance to win.
The 76ers haven’t been as successful in their last five outings. They’ve only won one of those games, a high-scoring match, 126-119. Both teams are capable of stellar offense, but Philadelphia is in 12th place, 23 games behind Boston.
On Their Way Down: Philadelphia 76ers Recent Scores
Even though Philly has only won one game in their last five, they’ve still put up impressive numbers, never scoring less than 100 points. Unfortunately, their defense hasn’t been able to slow down their opponents. They were on a seven-game losing streak before the last five games. One of those losses was against the Celtics, 124-104.
Unless they can improve that defense, Boston will have a field day against them.
Finding Their Mojo: Boston Celtics Recent Scores
Jayson Tatum missed last night’s game against the Trail Blazers, but the Celtics still managed 128 points and a win. It looks like they have a winning formula that doesn’t center around one or two players.
The team’s been averaging 116.8 points per game with only 108.2 points per game allowed. They’ve only averaged 112.4 points per game in the last five games, so you could say they’re in a bit of a slump. But I don’t think that’s enough to tip the scales towards Philly.
Easy Call: 76ers vs Celtics Prediction
The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Boston Celtics without a couple of their best players. Center Joel Embiid will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. His left knee continues to present issues that caused the team to conclude that he’s unable to play. The seven-footer’s stats this season are 23.8 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game.
The 76ers will also be without their speedy Tyrese Maxey, who is out for his second game with a back strain. This season, he’s averaged 26.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.
Without its top stars, Philly will have to rely on its inconsistent supporting cast.
Boston, meanwhile, will have their top player in fine form. Jayson Tatum leads his team in points per game (26.8), rebounds per game (8.8), and assists per game (5.8). He missed last night’s game and may also miss this one. But that doesn’t seem to be a problem for Boston’s deep roster.
The only thing in Philly’s favor is that they will be playing at home. But my prediction is that that won’t be enough for them to push past the Celtics, who will win in a high-scoring affair – maybe even by 10 points.
