Dodgers Road to the World Series
Despite having to play the Wild Card round, the Dodgers played a smooth series after series, easily advancing to the World Series and allowing them the chance to repeat last season’s success. The Cincinnati Reds were no match for the Dodgers in the Wild Card, as they were beaten 2-0 and had no chance to respond. That was just a hint of what was about to come for their next rivals.
In the NLDS, the Dodgers were facing the No. 2 seed in the NL, the Phillies, in what was expected to be a fight between two big franchises. However, the Dodgers swept the floor with Philadelphia, winning 4-0 in a series of the best of 7. An unfortunate error by Philies’ reliever Orion Kerkering sealed the pass for Los Angeles.
The NLCS brought yet another sweep, this time over the Milwaukee Brewers, who had eliminated the Cubs but couldn’t keep up with L.A.’s pitching rotation. Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani delivered an outstanding stretch. Ohtani stole the show in Game 4, striking out 10 over six innings and hitting three home runs, becoming one of the best postseason performances in the history of the MLB.
Blue Jays Postseason Recap
The Blue Jays skipped the Wild Card round after finishing as the No. 1 seed in the American League. They edged out the New York Yankees via the head-to-head tiebreaker to win the AL East.
In the ALDS, Toronto defeated the Yankees in four games, scoring 34 total runs to punch their ticket to the ALCS, where things got much tougher against the Seattle Mariners.
This ALCS was the best postseason series, according to many critics. The Mariners won the first two games in Canada, heading back to Seattle with the advantage and the hopes of closing it soon. However, the Blue Jays fight back, winning games 3 and 4 to tie things up. The Mariners retook the lead in Game five thanks to a grand slam by Eugenio Suárez in the eighth inning, but Toronto forced Game 7 with a decisive win in Game 6.
Then, in the deciding game, George Springer crushed a three-run homer in the seventh inning to seal the victory and send Toronto back to the World Series for the first time in over three decades.
Blue Jays vs Dodgers Prediction for Game One
The 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays is shaping up as a clash between dominance and destiny.
The Dodgers hold a superior 19–11 all-time regular-season record against Toronto. Still, the Blue Jays have history on their side: in every previous postseason featuring this Championship Series dynamic, the team that went through a seven-game series has gone on to win the World Series.
Our prediction at PayPerHead for Game 1 of the MLB World Series is Dodgers 9–4 over the Blue Jays.
