Arriving in Melbourne, Australia, only 28 hours before the game proved to be a wrong decision by management. The Rams’ defense was ineffective against the 49ers, while the offense was equally subdued. Stafford, who led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns last season, went 15-for-25 for just 155 yards.
But it’s not all about passing. In the 27-7 loss to San Francisco, Kyren Williams and Blake Corum combined for 95 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Back in the USA, the Rams had a strong performance in Week 2 against the New York Giants. They won 28-6 in Monday Night Football.
Denver Broncos Recent Scores: Nix the Jaguars
Denver got embarrassed by the Chiefs in Week 1 of the regular season, losing 31-10. Three plays in, Bo Nix threw an interception resulting in a Chiefs touchdown. He made up for it with a touchdown pass to Evan Engram, but it went downhill from there. Nix was running from Kansas City’s defense, while Mahomes didn’t look bothered at all coming off knee reconstruction.
The Broncos beat Jacksonville in Week 2, 20-13. QB Nix found an answer in Jaylen Waddle when Jacksonville’s defense took away the initial play. Waddle caught eight passes for 138 yards. Three of those receptions converted third downs.
Nix completed 22 of 31 passes for 288 yards and wasn’t sacked.
Denver’s defense shut the door in the second half, only allowing three points. Their offense didn’t need a huge performance at that point.

The Rams have played the Broncos 15times, with Los Angeles winning 10. The Rams currently have a 5-game winning streak starting in 2006, with their last game taking place on Christmas Day in 2022. Most of their games this century have been close, but the Christmas game was a blowout win for the Rams, 51-14.

The Rams are the favorites, but it is by a slim margin, about 2.5 points. Their challenge is playing Monday Night Football and then travelling to altitude for a Sunday night game. Remember when they travelled to Australia and lost to the 49ers 27-7? They were the favorites then too.
Plus, WR Puka Nacua’s hip issue may reduce Stafford’s passing options. Nacua missed the first practice after Week 2 and is still questionable for the Denver game.
With Waddle as a surprise added threat, Nix has more options to forward the ball.
While LA has a short week, Denver is playing its second home game with a full Sunday-to-Sunday preparation window.
Both teams will rely heavily on their defense to keep them in the game, while their offenses have to make every possession count.
