The NFL never takes a breather. Although most continue to concentrate on the 2022 March Madness Tournament Sweet 16 and Elite Eight last week, massive trades and notable free agent signings have left the NFL looking much different now than it did just two weeks ago.
Former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will play for the Cleveland Browns. The Miami Dolphins acquired Kansas City’s top wide receiver from 2021, Tyreek Hill, and signed the top free agent on the market, former Saints offensive lineman Terron Armstead.
So much change has happened in the past seven days that if pay per head agents had read a 2022 NFL Mock Draft from last week, you’d wonder what the prognosticator was thinking, which is one of the reasons we waited until right now to publish our 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

The Chiefs were the chalk. But after Kansas City traded Tyreek Hill, their odds fell to +900 from +600. The Bills made huge free agent moves, including signing EDGE Von Miller, which is one of the reasons Buffalo has become a favorite.
Tampa Bay is the second choice because Tom Brady decided to come back and play one more season less than a month after retiring. All the changes prove that sports betting software agents must always watch the sport that provides their sportsbook the most action.

2022 NFL Mock Draft First Round
1. Jacksonville Jaguars –EDGE Aidan Hutchinson – Michigan
Until the Jaguars handed Cam Robinson a massive contract, most believed the Jaguars might go for offensive lineman Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu.
But with Robinson under contract, the Jags can draft the most polished player available. The Wolverines’ Aidan Hutchinson was a Heisman Trophy Finalist. The edge rusher has a never-ending motor and requires double-teams all day.
2. Detroit Lions – S – Kyle Hamilton – Notre Dame
Some 2022 NFL Mock Draft prognosticators believe the Lions will pull the trigger on Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. No doubt, Willis is a terrific prospect.
But the Lions will likely look to trade down if you like Willis. So, for now, at least, the top overall rated player on most draft boards gets the call from Detroit.
3. Houston Texans – OL – Evan Neal – Alabama
The Texans could go with Kayvon Thibodeaux here, but Houston should draft for a need. They have a huge one at left tackle. Davis Mills suffered way more sacks than he should have last season.
Ekwonu is the better prospect. But Neal has more experience. The Texans go with the more experienced left tackle.
4. New York Jets – OL – Ikem Ekwonu – NC State
Ikem Ekwonu is one of the most gifted athletes in this year’s draft. That’s scary because Ekwonu is 6’ 4” and 310 pounds. A left tackle with Ekwonu’s ability comes around maybe every five years.
Like Mills in Houston, Jets quarterback Zach Wilson suffered way more sacks than he should have in his rookie season. Wilson will applaud this pick for sure.
5. New York Giants – WR Garrett Wilson – Ohio State
Many believe the Giants go with offensive lineman Charles Cross. However, Garrett Wilson is the highest-rated receiver on more than one draft board.
The Giants won’t know what they’ve got with Daniel Jones unless they give him some help. Jones could thrive in Brian Daboll’s offensive system. So even though this might be too high to draft Wilson, the G-Men will go for it.
6. Carolina Panthers – OL Charles Cross – Miss State
For sure, the Panthers require quarterback help. Because Deshaun Watson is a Cleveland Brown, the thinking here is that instead of drafting a player like Willis or Kenny Pickett too early, Carolina will go for the top remaining offensive lineman and trade for Baker Mayfield.
7. New York Giants – DE Kayvon Thibodeaux – Oregon
The Giants can afford to wait for Thibodeaux. If they believe the Panthers go for Thibodeaux with the sixth pick, the G-Men might pull the trigger on Kayvon with the fifth pick and draft Wilson with the seventh.
Either way, it sure looks like NYG gets good by grabbing the second-best defensive line player on the board with one of their first seven picks.
8. Atlanta Falcons – WR Drake London – USC
Atlanta’s new starting quarterback is Marcus Mariota. When healthy, Mariota is a good player. But the ATL has zero receiving targets outside of tight-end Kyle Pitts.
Atlanta will want to give Mariota another weapon. Some mock drafts have the ATL going with an offensive lineman or defensive line player, which makes sense because the Falcons need help in both areas. But unless they can move the football, it won’t matter how good their defense is, and Mariota has the wheels to scramble out of trouble.
So London is the prediction. The USC WR has excellent hands, size, speed, etc. He immediately becomes the ATL’s top wideout with Calvin Ridley banned for a year.
9. Seattle Seahawks – QB Malik Willis – Liberty
There’s a debate about which quarterback makes the most sense for the Seattle Seahawks. Most agree that in college football last season, Pittsburgh star Kenny Pickett played better than any other signal-caller in the draft.
But most also agree that the college football quarterback in this draft with the most upside is Malik Willis. There’s the chance Seattle doesn’t draft either and instead decides to grab a backup in free agency who can compete with Drew Lock.
The guess is that the Seahawks go with Willis because he’s more in the Russell Wilson mode than Pickett. Seattle likes quarterbacks that can escape the pocket. Pickett can do that, but he’s not as slippery as Willis.
10. New York Jets – CB Adam Gardner – Cincinnati
Like the Giants, the other New York team could improve big time in the first round. Adam “Sauce” Gardner is as close to a lockdown corner as any in this year’s NFL Draft.
Gardner will ensure the J-E-T-S can contain their opponents’ best wide receiver. There’s a chance NYJ goes defensive line, calls the name of one of the remaining offensive linemen, especially if they see a left tackle they like or jump on an edge rusher.
11. Washington Commanders – LB Devin Lloyd – Utah
The Commanders got their quarterback by trading for former Colt Carson Wentz. At one time, Wentz most considered Carson one of the top five quarterbacks in the league. He can throw the rock for sure.
But Washington requires help on the defensive end. So even though they must replace guard Brandon Scherff, their best offensive line player, and Landon Collins, their starting safety, DC can’t overlook Lloyd’s production.
12. Minnesota Vikings – EDGE Jermaine Johnson II – Florida State
The Vikings have a brand coaching staff and just re-upped quarterback Kirk Cousins. Expect Minnesota to go for it this season.
One of the ways to go for it is to draft a top defensive end like Jermaine Johnson II. The Florida State edge rusher has a motor that’s on all day. He’ll cut off the edge from opposing running backs and terrorize opposing quarterbacks.
13. Cleveland Browns – WR Jameson Williams – Alabama
Now that Deshaun Watson will be under center, the Browns require a DeAndre Hopkins-like wide receiver to become Deshaun’s go-to guy.
Williams isn’t yet the wideout Hopkins is, but he’s the fastest wide receiver in the draft. Yep. We know he’s heading into his pro career with an injury.
But the wideout is 6′ 2″ and 180 pounds, and when healthy, lightning-fast. The Browns will take their time with Williams.
14. Baltimore Ravens – DL Travon Walker – Georgia
Other mock NFL Drafts have Travon Walker going anywhere from third to where we have him, fourteenth. Teams always get suckered into drafting defensive line players early because of their size and, in this case, production and speed.
So there is a real possibility Walker falls to the top ten. But we think he ends up on the Ravens’ lap. The Browns don’t require a defensive player, and everyone else ahead of the Ravens drafted for need. So Baltimore wins the prize.
15. Philadelphia Eagles – CB Derek Stingley Jr. – LSU
Stingley Jr. should be an All-Pro for years to come. So if teams do draft for need and the Eagles can overlook Derek’s less than stellar 2021, they could steal the LSU cornerback at fifteen.
Will Philadelphia be happy with their pick? Oh, they definitely will! Before last season started, most had Stingley going in the top five.
A tough season, a few injuries, and Kyle Hamilton’s ascension has caused Stingley Jr. to drop on most NFL mock draft boards. So expect the Eagles to be flying if they can choose him at 15.
16. Philadelphia Eagles – EDGE George Karlaftis – Purdue
The Purdue defensive end has flown up NFL Draft boards. His combine was fantastic. Also, his measurables are tremendous.
At 6’ 4” and 266 pounds, Karlaftis is fast enough to pull back and cover running backs and tight-ends out of the backfield in zone coverage. Defensive coordinators for NFC East opponents Dallas, Washington, and the New York Giants will have nightmares about stopping Karlaftis and Derek Barnett on the other end.
17. Los Angeles Chargers – DL Jordan Davis – Georgia
The Georgia defensive lineman is another that could end up going much earlier than we expect. There’s often a run on defensive lineman.
Size and production matter, and Jordan Davis has both. He produced big time for the National Champions last season. So the Bolts may have to scramble if Davis isn’t on the board.
Ah, but scrambling means someone we chose to go before Davis is available. The Bolts improved their defense big time during free agency. So they’ll be happy with Davis, Karlaftis, Johnson II, Sauce Gardner, or any other top defensive player.
- New Orleans Saints – WR Chris Olave – Ohio State
The Saints could go quarterback here, but we think they draft one of the best wide receivers on the board, Chris Olave.
The Ohio State product doesn’t have Jameson Williams speed, and he doesn’t have Treylon Burks’ size. But Olave can flat-out play.
He catches anything thrown his way, uses his frame well, and will be a great compliment to healthy Michael Thomas and emerging Marquez Callaway.
By drafting Olave, the Saints can bring Tre’Quan Smith off the bench and run 4-wide receiver sets. That will open the field for Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara in offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael’s offense.
19. Philadelphia Eagles – WR Treylon Burks – Arkansas
With their third pick in the top 20, the Eagles could decide to go with a tight-end, but going for a TE here might be a stretch. Instead, Philly will pull the trigger on another tremendous wide receiver.
Burks should complement last year’s top pick, wideout Devonta Smith. The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner has a great rapport with Jalen Hurts. If Burks develops even half the rapport that Smith has with Hurts, the Eagles will have one of the top wide receiver pairings in the NFC.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers – QB Kenny Pickett – Pittsburgh
Kenny Pickett’s hand size is an issue. At 8 ½ inches, Pickett’s hands are smaller than any NFL starting quarterback’s.
They’re even smaller than Taysom Hill’s hands, and Hill isn’t the Saints’ starter. So don’t let all the talk about Pickett’s hands not being an issue fool you.
A quarterback’s hand size is important because he must hang on to the football. Mike Tomlin would love to draft Malik Willis. Rumor has it, Willis will go to the Seahawks. So Tomlin figures to pull the trigger on his second choice, Pickett.
Even with small hands, Pickett could excel. He has the ability and quarterback IQ to get it done. But we’re just pointing out that hand size matters. So Tomlin might decide to roll the dice with Mitch Trubisky, whom the Steelers signed during free agency, and draft a defensive player or wide receiver in this spot.
21. New England Patriots – LB Nakobe Dean – Georgia
If Nakobe Dean falls to the Patriots, Bill Belichick will be ecstatic. The Dawgs’ most feared front seven players can do it all.
Not only that, but Belichick and the Pats realize they can’t fight fire with fire. The Bills, Dolphins, and maybe even the Jets will have better offenses than the Patriots. So instead of trying to run and gun with those teams, the Patriots head coach will come up with defensive schemes to keep the ball in Mac Jones’ hands.
22. Green Bay Packers – WR Jahan Dotson – Penn State
The Packers lost Davante Adams and Marquez Valdez-Scantling. So even though the Pack did the right thing by making Aaron Rodgers happy, AR has no top wide receiver targets.
Jahan Dotson is an outstanding player. He should do well with the Packers.
23. Arizona Cardinals – DL Devonte Wyatt – Georgia
Wyatt is yet another defensive lineman that could go in the top 10, the top 20, or fall into the second round. Arizona requires a lot of help on defense, and Wyatt will provide it.
There’s an outside chance the Cards pull a shocker, trade quarterback Kyler Murray, and draft someone like Matt Corral or Kenny Pickett. The Cards may want to consider Murray while they can still get something for him.
If Arizona doesn’t pull the day’s most significant trade, they will draft a defender. If Wyatt is available, they should go for the Georgia defender.
24. Dallas Cowboys – OL Bernhard Raiman – Central Michigan
La’el Collins now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, so the Dallas Cowboys must draft an offensive lineman to fill his right tackle spot.
Bernhard Raiman ranks fifth on most offensive lineman rankings behind Evan Neal, Ikem Ekwonu, Charles Cross, and Tyler Linderbaum. We have Dallas pulling the trigger on Raiman before drafting Linderbaum because the Cowboys tend to do those things, reaching for a player instead of going for the safer pick.
25. Buffalo Bills – S Daxton Hill – Michigan
Strong safety Jordan Poyer is coming off his best season ever. But Poyer turns 31 on April 25.
The Bills want to back Poyer up with a younger player, and Daxton Hill would be perfect. Hill can be an NFL All-Pro.
Buffalo should already field the best defense in the NFL this season. With Hill, they add depth to that feared unit.
26. Tennessee Titans – OL Tyler Linderbaum – Iowa
Linderbaum had a rock star combine, which is one of the reasons many believe he ends up going way before pick 26. But teams have been burned by drafting players who excelled during the NFL Combine.
The Titans have a solid offensive line. Adding Linderbaum helps the O-line’s depth. If the Iowa product goes sooner than 26, the Titans will pull the trigger on Kenyon Green, Boston College offensive lineman Zion Johnson, or Daniel Faalele.
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – OL Kenyon Green – Texas A&M
In a way, Tampa may have hoped that quarterback Tom Brady had stayed retired. Brady pulled a fast one on the Bucs and the league by deciding to return for one more go-around.
Because Terrific Tom has unretired, the Bucs have no choice but to draft an offensive lineman. The Bucs lost both starting guards from last year’s team.
Ali Marpet retired, and the Bengals signed Alex Cappa. Zion Johnson and Kenyon Green are the top guards in this draft. Green is larger and played in the SEC. So we’re thinking the Bucs pull the trigger on Green.
28. Green Bay Packers – WR – David Bell – Purdue
Aaron Rodgers requires targets. So there’s a good chance the Packers go wide receiver with both first-round picks.
Most consider Christian Watson a better prospect than David Bell. But Bell played for the Purdue Boilermakers in the Big Ten. Green Bay had a chance to familiarize themselves with Bell.
Not only that, but anybody who watched the 6’1″ and 212 pounds wideout knows he’s a producer. Bell can change an offense if his college form translates. Rodgers will play with this guy if the Packers choose him at 28.
29. Kansas City Chiefs – WR – Christian Watson – North Dakota State
The 6’ 4” Watson isn’t a burner like Tyreek Hill. But Andy Reid knows he can’t replace Hill. No receiver in this class, heck, no receiver in the NFL has Hill’s unique skill set.
So the best Reid and the Chiefs can do is draft the top remaining wide receiver prospect on the board. Watson is that player.
30. Kansas City Chiefs – S – Jaquan Brisker – Penn State
Drafting Brisker should soothe some fears. KC fans watched as the Denver Broncos traded for quarterback Russell Wilson, the Los Angeles Chargers improved their defense, and the Las Vegas Raiders traded for wide receiver Davante Adams.
So drafting a safety that can double-wide receivers or blitz quarterbacks is a big deal. Brisker can do both. He’ll be a great addition to KC’s secondary.
31. Cincinnati Bengals – CB – Andrew Booth Jr. – Clemson
The Bengals improved their offensive line big time. They signed Alex Cappa to play guard and acquired Collins to play right tackle.
Because the Bengals’ upgraded their offensive line, Cincy can afford to work on their defense with pick 31. Andrew Booth Jr. has the makings of an excellent cornerback.
Booth Jr. may not start because Eli Apple and Chidobie Awuzie are talented. But Booth Jr. will help provide rest to those players and move play in nickel formations.
32. Detroit Lions – QB Matt Corral – Ole Miss
The Detroit Lions require a lot of help at many different positions. But this is pick 32, which could be a good time for the Lions to plan for the future.
Jared Goff is a decent quarterback. He won’t take the Lions to the playoffs, though.
Matt Corral could. Attitude means a lot in a quarterback, and Corral has a winning attitude. The signal-caller has no fear. So unless the Lions make a trade for Baker Mayfield, and right now, there’s no telling if the Browns can move Mayfield and his $19 million salary, they figure to pull the trigger on a signal-caller. Corral is the best signal-caller on the board.
