NFL Week 9 Preview and Sportsbook Management Advice

NFL Week 9 Preview. Plenty of National Football League teams head to week 9 with plenty on the line. Only ten of the thirty-two NFL squads have above .500 straight up records. With so much at stake this week, pay per head agents must prepare their sportsbooks for serious betting action. Check out a recap of week 8 along with previews of every week 9 game.

2022 Week 8 NFL Bookie Betting Recap

The Ravens, Broncos, Saints, 49ers, Commanders, and Browns won straight up as spread dogs. Among those wins, the most telling had to be Baltimore beating Tampa Bay last Thursday night.

The Buccaneers are reeling. Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen announced their divorce last week. So, maybe, the Terrific One gets his squad back on the winning track this week versus a lackluster Rams side.

The Saints shut out the Raiders in an excellent 24-0 victory. New Orleans is another team that looks to be on the improve. The Saints take on the Ravens in week 9’s Monday night tilt.

Check out pay per head sportsbook agents’ advice on managing action on Saints versus Ravens and every other game on the NFL Week 9 schedule.

NFL Week 9 Preview

Bookmaker Software Tips for Week 9 in the NFL

** Week 9 NFL bye teams: Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco Giants

Thursday Night Football Game – November 3

Philadelphia Eagles -9.5 at Houston Texans

After beating the offensively-challenged Pittsburgh Steelers 35-13 in their last, the Eagles moved to 7-0. Philadelphia travels to Houston to take on a Texans squad that should have no chance of keeping it close.

Houston, though, plays tough. The Texans are 1-5 in straight games but 3-3-1 straight up.

Houston doesn’t play in a lot of one score games. However, the Texans are terrific at keeping the difference closer than the spread line.

Consider: For sure, set max limits on the Texans’ money line. Undefeated teams at the halfway point tend to lose at least one game, and often, the loss happens versus the group we’d least expect.

Sunday, November 6

Buffalo Bills -12.5 at New York Jets

Right before kickoff, the odds on Buffalo versus Green Bay dropped 3 points from -10.5 to -7.5. The significant drop implies pro players were waiting until the final moment to lay down money.

The Packers didn’t come through. Buffalo beat Green Bay by ten, 27-17. The Jets fell to 5-3 SU and 5-3 ATS after losing to the New England Patriots.

Consider: Buffalo is a juggernaut, but New York played too well to lose. 53% are on the Bills at -12.5, and 47% are on the Jets at +12.5. Use the layoff account and, for sure, set limits on the J-E-T-S’ ML.

Minnesota Vikings -3 at Washington Commanders

For some reason, D.C. players respond to Taylor Heinicke. The Washington quarterback is 2-0 this season after sneaking the pigskin in on the final play to upset the Colts 17-16.

Heinicke could go 3-0 in this. Minnesota is 6-1 and deserves a lot of praise, but let’s be fair. Minny isn’t as good as their record indicates.

Consider: You know what to do. Use your tools to manage action but only if required. So far, handicappers are all over the Vikings, but pro players will wait before dumping on the Commanders.

Green Bay Packers -3.5 at Detroit Lions

Detroit enters the game with a 1-6 record, but Detroit can score. The Lions dropped 27 onto the Dolphins in a 31-27 loss.

Green Bay can’t score. This season, the best offensive output for the Packers was 27 against Chicago and New England.

The Pack averages 18.1 per game. If Detroit gets their offense going, Green Bay could be in trouble.

Consider: Green Bay is vulnerable to a fifth straight loss. Use the layoff account no matter where the money lands and, for sure, set max limits on the Lions’ ML.

Los Angeles Chargers -3 at Atlanta Falcons

Bolts versus Falcons should be one of the most competitive games in the 9th week. The Chargers entered their week 8 bye after falling to the Seahawks at home.

It turns out Seattle is one of the NFC’s best teams. The Falcons are 6-2 against the spread in their last 8 matchups. The ATL can upset LAC at home.

Consider: Max limits on the home squad makes sense. So does using the layoff account if the Bolts become a hot play on your bookie website.

Miami Dolphins -3.5 at Chicago Bears

Tua returned to the Dolphins’ starting lineup, and Miami scored 31 points in a 31-27 win. The Fins, knowing they had to shore up the defense, traded for Denver defensive end Bradley Chubb.

Miami also traded for San Francisco running back Jeff Wilson. With the new additions, the Dolphins will be a hot betting program play to beat and cover the spread against the Bears.

Consider: Chicago traded linebacker Roquan Smith, which means Miami’s offense should score at will. You may have to use your bookie software to manage betting on the over-under total.

Las Vegas Raiders -1.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Neither team is playing well. The Jaguars have lost five straight both SU and against the spread.

Vegas heads to Jacksonville a week after losing 0-24 versus the Saints. The Raiders’ offensive line is a disaster. With the offensive line playing so badly, the Jags will attract some action.

Who knows which side will attract the most action. Neither team appears to be playing well enough to garner too many dollars.

Consider: Raiders versus Jaguars might be this week’s even action game, meaning 50% will lay the -1.5 on Vegas, and 50% will grab the +1.5 on the Jags. Often, price per head oddsmakers don’t set a money line when spread odds are so low. If your book shows an ML, set max limits like usual.

Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots -5.5

The Colts are a disaster. Frank Reich fired Marcus Brady, the team’s offensive coordinator, earlier in the week.

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger sat down with former New England cornerback Stephon Gilmore and asked about Bill Belichick’s defensive game planning. Gilmore will try and provide Ehlinger with as much info as he can.

Right now, PPH bookie players don’t believe it will help. 62% are all over the Patriots to cover while 38% are taking the 5.5 points.

Consider: If the action gets too hot on the Pats, use the layoff account. For certain set limits on the Colts’ ML. Ehlinger might be Indianapolis’ answer at quarterback, and in NFL Week 7, the Patriots’ defense made Bears QB Justin Fields look like hall of fame Chicago signal-caller Sid Luckman.

Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals -8.5

The Bengals had torn it up in two street weeks. Then, Cincinnati traveled to Cleveland, and everything fell apart.

The Bengals became the Bungles. Carolina failed to close the deal against Atlanta. No doubt, Cincy should bounce back, but the Panthers aren’t a pushover team. Carolina is especially tough in the second half of games.

Consider: Cincinnati is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 games at home. So although the Bengals played awful in the loss to the Browns, Cincy should attract the most action. Use your online bookie software tools to manage the action on this game.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals -2

Arizona and quarterback Kyler Murray made too many mistakes in the loss to Minnesota. Most of the errors happened in the second half. If the Cardinals don’t improve the mental game, Seattle could upset The Valley.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith rarely makes mistakes. So players will have to decide if backing Arizona is worth it.

Consider: The line has fallen a point and a half from Zona -3.5, and pro players have yet to get involved. As of Wednesday afternoon, both teams are attracting 50% of the money.

Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2.5

Both teams are reeling. Tampa has lost three straight. The Rams have lost 3-of-4.

The Buccaneers offensive line is a disaster. So if Aaron Donald and his buddies can get to the newly divorced Tom Brady, the Rams could win this straight up.

Consider: 51% like the Rams to cover, and 49% are all over the Buccaneers. Another even game, with action going to both sides, is probable.

NFL Sunday Night Football: Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs -10.5

The NFL Week 9 Sunday night game pits the Chiefs against the Titans. The Chiefs head to this off their bye week.

Kansas City looked fantastic when dominating the San Francisco 49ers 44-23 in their last game. The Chiefs had their bye week, which means they will have sat on the bench for 14 days before this matchup.

Tennessee started the season 0-2. The Titans head to the Kansas City Chiefs on a five straight games winning streak. Many handicappers, especially pro players, will consider 10.5 too many points to give a hot squad like Tennessee.

Consider: Players are all over the Titans. 62% are jumping on Tennessee to cover. One of the reasons? The Titans are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

Monday Night Football – November 7

Baltimore Ravens -3.5 at New Orleans Saints

The Saints played great in their last. New Orleans shut out a talented Las Vegas Raiders team in an impressive 24-0 victory.

The Ravens got by Tampa 27-22 in an exciting road game. Baltimore acquired Chicago linebacker Roquan Smith earlier in the week.

Consider: Close to 70% believe Baltimore covers. So use the layoff account if required.
