NFL Week 4 Betting: How Online Bookies Can Prepare Their Sportsbooks

Sep 21, 2017 | NFL Football

NFL Week 3 is only a few days away. NFL handicappers are sharpening their instincts. We’re not NFL handicappers. We’re pay per head agents.

For us to stay ahead of the game, we must think at least a week ahead. Check out a breakdown of NFL Week 4 betting action.

NFL Week 4 Matchups – Big Favorites ATS

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

The Packers are always heavily favored against the Bears. Expect casual players and pro players alike to jump all over Green Bay against the spread. It doesn’t even matter what happens in Week 3.

Buffalo Bills at Atlanta Falcons

Unless Atlanta loses to Detroit in Week 3, the Falcons figure to be at least a -7.5 favorite over the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is a good team. But, Atlanta is the defending NFC Champion.

L.A. Rams at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys should be favored over the L.A. Rams by at least 6 to 6.5 points. This is true unless Arizona blows out Dallas in Week 3.

Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots

No matter what happens in Week 3, expect New England to be an 8.5 to -10 favorite.

Washington Redskins at Kansas City Chiefs

Some believe the Kansas City Chiefs are the best team in the NFL. They’ll be big favorites over Washington in Week 4.

They’ll be massive, double-digit, favorites if Oakland, as to be expected, trounces Washington in Week 3.

Indianapolis Colts at Seattle Seahawks

The Colts are one of the worst teams in the NFL. If Seattle pulls off the upset over the Tennessee Titans in a road tilt in Week 3, the Seahawks should be up to -10.5 favorites.

NFL Week 4 Matchups – Possible Competitive Spread

New Orleans Saints at Miami Dolphins

Miami will be favored. It’s just a question of by how many points. Don’t expect favoritism above 4.5 points.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore could end up favored in this contest if they demolish Jacksonville in London over the weekend.

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns

Favoritism could go either way in this one as well.

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Houston figures to be a -1.5 to -2 favorite if Tennessee doesn’t beat Seattle. If Tennessee beats and covers against Seattle, the Titans should be the -1 to -1.5 favorite.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings

Unless Minnesota Sam Bradford doesn’t play, the Vikings should be -2.5 to -3.5 favorites.

New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers could be anywhere from a -4.5 to -7.5 favorite. It depends on how the New York Giants fair in Week 3.

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos

This might be our first pick game of the season.

The best way for pay per head agents to handle the games above is to think in terms of schedule limit overrides and the line mover first before going to their layoff accounts.

See below for Examples:

Example 1 – Too much action has plopped onto New England, but it’s only Wednesday.

Set a schedule limit override from Wednesday to Sunday. See if money evens out.

Example 2 – Tampa Bay is a -3 favorite over the New York Giants

Use the line mover to change Tampa Bay’s odds to -3.5. Or, use the line mover to change the Giants odds from +3 to -2.5

Example 3 – It’s Saturday morning and the Vikings have $5,000 more on them than Detroit

Before going to your layoff account, check the money. Did the Vikings suddenly become 7-point favorites over Detroit because Bradford is playing? Should you let the money on Minnesota ride?

It’s a good idea for pay per head agents to use their own instincts before going to the layoff account. This just makes sense. After all, the layoff account can squeeze profits as well as protect profits.

Most agents, including you, don’t run 300 million-dollar sportsbooks like those found in Las Vegas. Vegas can afford to just reap the 10% juice.

The juice adds up to so much money that Vegas sportsbooks don’t care who wins ATS.

For you to become successful as an online bookie, you mustn’t leave money on the table. It’s important for you to not overuse your layoff account.

For all the NFL Week 4 betting, and the rest of the season, you need the right tools. Thinking ahead of the game is important, but keeping your sportsbook balanced is necessary for a profitable online bookies business.
