Game 2 takes place on June 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and with us at PayPerHead. If it’s anything like Game 1, this series will be one of the best NHL finals in years. The Hurricanes were surprised at home in Game 1. That’s not likely to be repeated.

Las Vegas Golden Knights Recent Scores

In Round 1, the Golden Knights took six games to finish off the Utah Mammoth. The Mammoth ended the season in sixth place in the Western Conference with more wins than the Knights (43 compared with 39), but Las Vegas went to overtime 17 times compared to 6 for Utah. That’s still a great record for a team in its second NHL season.

In Round 2, Las Vegas beat the Anaheim Ducks in six games. Anaheim had the same record as Utah. For the first four games, these teams took turns winning, so that they were at 2-2 after four. Game 5 went to overtime, which VGK eventually won, before decisively winning Game 6 5-1.

Somehow, after two difficult series, the Golden Knights swept the dominant Colorado Avalanche in four. Colorado swept the Kings in Round 1 and beat the Minnesota Wild in Round 2 in five games. But against VGK, they couldn’t win one game. Las Vegas won each game by two goals except for the last one, which was the closest: 2-1.

Carolina Hurricanes Recent Scores

In Round 1, the Canes took out the Ottawa Senators in four games. They were close games, one going to overtime, but Ottawa couldn’t get a win.

Round 2 against the Philadelphia Flyers also went in four games. Two of them went to overtime, and the other two were won by three-goal margins.

Round 3 against the Montreal Canadiens started off in a more exciting fashion as the Canadiens won Game 1, 6-2. The next two games went into overtime, but the Canes won. Carolina won the next two decisively, 4-0 and 6-1. The Habs made it through two 7-game series before this and simply ran out of gas.

Golden Knights vs Hurricanes History

These teams met twice during the regular season, with the Golden Knights winning both times:

• Oct 20, 2025: Golden Knights 4 – 1 Hurricanes (Las Vegas)
• Oct 28, 2025: Golden Knights 6 – 3 Hurricanes (Raleigh)

Game 1 of the finals had the same result but was much closer.

Carolina dominated for stretches but had defensive lapses. They went ahead 2-0 before the Knights scored three unanswered goals. Carolina kept tying it up after that but never regained the lead. The Knights scored the winning goal with 3:24 left in the third.

Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Prediction and Score for Game 2

Carolina’s goalie, Frederik Andersen, isn’t likely to let in another five goals in Game 2, and it likely won’t be the wild game it was in Game 1. The Hurricanes should be able to control the next game better and, with the home crowd, get the win.

But Vegas does have guys who can score, including Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner and William Karlsson. Plus, Carter Hart is playing well in net. Our Golden Knights vs Hurricanes prediction is that Carolina will play with a little more desperation and will win 3-2.

The Panthers were in the same position last year against Las Vegas. They were able to win Game 3 in overtime. It’s not unheard of to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the Final series, but it is rare. Only five teams have done it in NHL history, but two were in the last 15 years. The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to come back from a 3-0 series deficit, but that was in 1942. The game has changed considerably since then.

The puck drops for Game 3 in Edmonton on Thursday, June 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

Stanley Cup Finals 2024 Odds

The Panthers’ defense has done an incredible job keeping the Oilers’ potent offense from scoring. If Edmonton can’t figure out how to breach that defensive wall, this series won’t last long. But it’s difficult to stop the Oilers’ offense for very long. McDavid, Draisaitl, and other Edmonton players are too good not to find a crack in Florida’s defense. Game 3 should be interesting, to say the least.

This might be the biggest betting day for the NHL in 2024, so keep your limits in and open your props to get the most profits for the remainder of the playoffs.

NHL Odds of Winning Game 3

The Oilers were shut out of Game 1, 3-0. That’s the first time that Connor McDavid didn’t get a point since Game 7 against the Vancouver Canucks. In Game 2, they got the first goal, but the Panthers got the next four, winning 4-1. Edmonton is the favorite to win Game 3 by some betting sites but not by all, so it should be a close one. Sportswriters expect the Oilers to have an answer for Florida’s defense and goalie Bobrovsky. The Panthers outscored them 7-1, but the Oilers had more shots. All the Edmonton Oilers have to do now is get more quality shots to bury more goals.

COVID-19 has put every major sport on hold, and the National Hockey League (NHL) was no exception. However, for the first time since March 12, the NHL announced its plans to resume and complete the 2019-2020 season with a 24-team playoff. In the short term the 2020 NHL Draft Lottery with be going ahead.

NHL Return to Playoffs Plan

Twenty-four teams will compete for the Stanley Cup – 12 from the Western Conference and 12 from the East. The 189 remaining games are void and 24 of the 31 teams were chosen based on point percentage. The tournament begins with a 16-team, eight-series Qualifying Round and a Seeding Round Robin with the top four teams to determine how the postseason will line up from top to bottom.

Finally, some NHL action for online bookies to handicap. Unfortunately, the expectation is for this plan to kick in no earlier than the first half of July.

Fifteen teams are part of the lottery and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd picks are up for grabs while the rest are determined by point percentage.

Phase 2

• If Phase 2 is necessary, every team has the same odds.
• When all phases are completed, the remaining 12 teams will be placed in reverse order of their point percentages.

Bottom line, your clientele will be able to wager on the lottery winners and even have some early prop action on who the top pick will be. The worse the shortened 2019-20 season, the more the odds of the ball bouncing to the top spot in the draft are amplified.

Best Odds to Win the NHL 2020 Draft Lottery

Detroit Red Wings +145 – 18.5% Odds to Win the Lottery

The worst point percentage in the NHL (.275) gives the Detroit Red Wings 18.5% odds to receive the No. 1 overall pick. Though they receive the largest percentage of lottery balls for their one pick, handicappers should keep their odds close or behind the Ottawa Senators in NHL 2020 Draft Lottery betting. Ottawa is lucky enough to have two picks within the top 15, improving their odds.

If the ball bounces their way, the Red Wings pick will be a no-brainer: Forward Alexis LaFreniere. Any odds on the Red Wings taking LaFreniere should be largely in your sportsbook’s favor and take limited action. LaFreniere is the top talent in the draft and could have an immediate impact, improving Detroit’s regular season win total and per-game scoring.

Ottawa Senators +145 – 13.5% and 11.5% Odds to win the Lottery

Ottawa acquired a second top 15 pick in a 2018 trade with the San Jose Sharks, who finished with a .450 point percentage. That along with their own .437 point total gives them 13.5% and 11.5% respective odds to steal the top pick from the Red Wings. The combined percentages give the Senators nearly a 25% chance of winning the chance to draft LaFreniere.  

LeFreniere could also have an immediate impact on the Sens season totals and team scoring, as his ability to score could offset a goals-against average that was second-worse in the league.

Los Angeles Kings +800 – 9.5% Odds to Win the Lottery

The odds begin to get shakier if the Senators and Red Wings are unlucky enough to lose their shot at the number one spot. With a one pick in the top 15 and a 9.5% odds, the Los Angeles Kings chances are profitable but less likely. The odds slide the Kings right into the fourth overall pick in the draft. But at around +800, the value of picking the Kings for a lottery shocker could be a solid option for bettors. That’s why oddsmakers should put fairly strict limits on sports betting props and specials.

If the Kings can’t secure the top spot, odds for the Kings to draft a top-ranked defenseman like Jamie Drysdale increase.

Anaheim Ducks +900 – 8.5% Odds to Win the Lottery

The Ducks have a 26.1% chance of landing in the top 3 of the draft and 8.5% odds to take the top spot. They can pick anywhere from 1-3 or 5-8 – in this head-scratching lottery format, they can’t secure the No. 4 pick.

If they stay at No. 5 overall a player like forward Cole Perfetti could be in their sights.

New Jersey Devils +1000 – 7.5% Odds to Win the Lottery

Bettors and fans who take the Devils to win the draft lottery are in for a hefty reward. But the odds are slim. Their percentages slide them into the 6th overall pick, likely leaving them prospects like Center Marco Rossi or Right Winger Alexander Holtz.

Buffalo Sabres +1200 – 6.5% Odds to Win the Lottery

Buffalo rounds out the top seven with a long odds and little chance at the LaFreniere sweepstakes. Expect the Sabres to take the best offensive player available wherever they may be.
