The Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers have won the ACC championship in 12 of the last 13 seasons. The Tigers won eight of those and have the second shortest odds to win the conference, while the Seminoles have the top spot. It might be a battle between these two teams unless Miami can outshine them. Let’s take a look at the ACC Conference predictions at PayPerHead.
But before any of that happens, the first college football game of the 2024 season will take place in Dublin, Ireland, between two ACC teams: Georgia Tech and Florida State.
The ACC welcomes three new teams this year, Stanford, Cal, and SMU, to create a 17-team conference with no divisions. None of the newcomers will make a splash against the top teams, as you can see in their odds to win the ACC.

Florida State Seminoles
The reigning ACC champions will hitch their wagon to quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, whom they acquired from the Oregon State Beavers. He had solid stats with the Beavers, gaining 2,638 yards passing, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. His only issue is that he is 1-4 in games in which he has attempted 30 or more passes.
The team had to replace ten players drafted in the NFL, including receivers Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and quarterback Jordan Travis. But head coach Mike Norvell was majestic in his use of the portal, and we should see a stellar ground attack from running backs Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes. The defense has pass-rusher Patrick Payton, who is a contender to go No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Clemson Tigers
The Tigers had a dominant hold on this conference for many years, but that slipped last season when they couldn’t put together double-digit wins for the first time since 2010. New offensive coordinator Garrett Riley could only get an average of 23.6 points per game against ACC foes last season. He was supposed to bring the offense out of its slump but kept things pretty much the same.
What’s more interesting is that head coach Dabo Swinney doesn’t use the portal, which most teams heavily rely on in this era. However, Swinney still recruits from high schools at a very high level, giving him some of the best local talent in the nation. His team did appear in four of the last five College Football Playoff national championships. Maybe he knows something the other coaches don’t.
As with the Seminoles, the Tigers lost many of their top players to the NFL Draft but kept an excellent offensive line and have quarterback Cade Klubnik return for a third season.
Miami Hurricanes
Coach Mario Cristobal is entering his third season with the Canes, but the excitement of their potential is wearing off with the fans. Cristobal is a master of the transfer portal, bringing in quarterback Cam Ward from Washington State and running back Damien Martinez. Xavier Restrepo leads their receiving corps, while the offensive line has three returning starters. The defense was depleted but reenergized by several critical transfer pickups, including safety Mishael Powell, cornerback Dyoni Hill, and linemen Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain, Jr.
This team has one of the most talented rosters in the ACC, but their odds aren’t as short as they could be because they had a talented group last season and only went 7-6. Keep your limits in just in case Cristobal can finally make all this talent work.
Louisville Cardinals
Head coach Jeff Brohm had a massively successful first season with the Cardinals, finishing 2023 with 10 wins. They started the season 10-1 before losing their final three games, including an ACC Championship appearance. Fans are excited to see what the team can do this year, but critics are wondering if the streak of losses is a bad sign.
There is enough returning talent to have a decent team, but Brohm did an excellent job of working the transfer portal. He acquired former Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough, receiver Caullin Lacy, and running back Donald Chaney. Shough has shown potential but has struggled with major injuries in his last three seasons.
There’s no guarantee that this team will do well, but fans will be watching coach Brohm to see what he can pull out of his hat this season.
