Are the Bengals Back?
A lot is going on for this matchup between Seattle and Cincinnati. The Bengals don’t have a good record so far this season, but that might change as Joe Burrow seems to be almost back to his regular play.
Seattle has been more consistent with Geno Smith and his offense, averaging 27.8 points per game.
Both teams are giving up the same 22.8 points per game, so the defenses are pretty even. Seattle is good against the rush, while Cincinnati has a good pass rush.
Seattle travels more than any other NFL team by far, and they’ll be on the road for this one. So far, they are 2-0 ATS on the road and had a bye in Week 5 to rest up. Cincinnati hasn’t been as consistent as we watched Burrow struggle through his calf injury.
Keep your limits in for this game, as the outcome will largely depend on Joe Burrow’s calf.
Unlikely Division Leaders Meet in Tampa Bay
The leaders of the NFC North fly down to Tampa Bay to take on the leaders of the NFC South. The Lions are hot right now, sporting a 4-1 straight up, 4-1 ATS, and 2-0 ATS on the road. That record will be put to the test when they meet the Buccaneers, who are rested after a bye in Week 5. They have a 3-1 straight up and 3-1 ATS mark, although they lost their only home game as an underdog.
Tampa Bay’s Baker Mayfield makes fewer mistakes than Detroit’s Jared Goff, but the Lion’s offense continues to do well despite missing key players like Gibbs and St. Brown. Detroit is the 3-point favorite in this one, but it can easily be a win for Tampa Bay if the Buccaneers’ offense can protect Mayfield and his air game.
The Battle for the Leader of the AFC South
After a two-week stint in London, Jacksonville returns home to face the visiting Indianapolis Colts. The Colts will be missing their rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, who sustained an AC joint sprain. Gardner Minshew will take over for Richardson like he’s done several times already this season.
Indianapolis has Jonathan Taylor back in the lineup, but Jacksonville’s defense is good against the run. The Jaguars already beat the Colts in Week 1 and should be able to repeat the win on Saturday. Trevor Lawrence continues to improve and gain confidence in his abilities. Whether they can cover the spread depends on how well Minshew plays against his old team.
The Jets Host the Perfect Eagles
This would have been a dream matchup if Aaron Rodgers was playing. Without him, the Jets don’t have a chance of winning. But can they cover the spread? They’ve gone 7-1 ATS in their past eight October games.
Zack Wilson is showing improvement and is connecting better with his receivers. The Jets are coming off an impressive win on the road in Denver, and their defense nearly beat Kansas City two weeks ago. As I said, the Jets don’t stand a chance of beating the undefeated Eagles, but they might keep it closer than the oddsmakers think.
