2020 Breeders' Cup Betting Update

2020 Breeders Cup Betting Update – Baffert Holds Classic Cards in Racebook

As is often the case, the thoroughbred industry’s most successful trainer will saddle the 2020 Breeders Cup Classic odds favorite on November 7.

By most accounts, 2020 has been a challenging year. Don’t tell that to Bob Baffert. The former quarter-horse trainer in Nogales, Arizona, picked up yet another Kentucky Derby victory. Baffert won his sixth Derby, a record, with front running Authentic.

Authentic isn’t Baffert’s lone BC Classic contender. The now white-haired SoCal resident also saddles Improbable and top contender Maximum Security. Counting Improbable, Maximum Security, and Authentic, Bob trains three of the top four favorites to win the Classic.

No doubt, Baffert takes a strong hand into this year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic. The Classic will attract the most action in your pph sportsbook. But the richest race of the year in North America isn’t the only event on which you can profit.

Breeders’ Cup races happen on both November 6 and November 7. Horse race betting is different than betting on sports. You can offer free betting software on the 2020 Breeders’ Cup, just like you do for football and basketball games, but the risk in doing so can be much more significant.

While you manage sports bets with your layoff account, you must manage wagers on the ponies differently. You can’t use your layoff account, which means preventing big scores requires knowing how to set up your account before the big bets happen. Before getting into that, let’s look at exactly how strong a hand Baffert has heading into the 2020 Classic.

Improbable outright favorite to win the Classic, Tiz the Law second choice

Baffert has the favorite to win the top race of the year. Barclay Tagg trained Tiz the Law is the second choice.

See more information on the top five picks to win the 2020 BC Classic.

  • Improbable – It took the four-year-old City Zip sired colt a long time to put everything together. Baffert often gets his horses to peak at three. Up until the Hollywood Gold Cup in June, though, most, even Bob, considered Improbable a disappointment. The top-rated dirt horse in the world won the Gold Cup, and then he took the Grade 1 Whitney at Saratoga.
  • Tiz the Law – The Barclay Tagg runner ran an incredible race to finish second in the Kentucky Derby. He couldn’t get by Authentic, but he still ran great. Why? No doubt, the Law peaked when winning the Travers Stakes at Saratoga in August. If he runs back to that race, he can win the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
  • Authentic – Bob Baffert’s Kentucky Derby winner almost took the Preakness Stakes as well. Filly Swiss Skydiver, a contender if she decides to run in the Classic instead of the Distaff, is a nice horse. Authentic couldn’t hold her off for the Preakness win. No worries. If the others don’t push Authentic early, he could go gate-to-wire and win this graded stakes race.
  • Maximum Security – Baffert’s third runner in the Classic bounced versus Improbable in the Awesome Again. When we say a horse “bounces,” we mean that the runner races poorly in its very next race after running great in its previous race. Maximum Security easily won the Pacific Classic. He couldn’t hang in the Awesome Again versus a horse like Improbable, but he still finished second. If he’s back to his best self on November 7, he’s another that could win this.
  • Tom’s d’Etat – Beware Breeders’ Cup future bets on Tom’s d’Etat. The Albert Stall trained 7-year-old horse is bred to run 1 ¼ miles, Smart Strike is his sire, and like Maximum Security, Tom ran an awful race in his last. He easily handled By My Standards to win the Grade 2 Stephen Foster in June in his race before, though.

The five listed horses are favored to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2020. Make sure to read the next section to learn how to manage BC horse racing betting wagers.

How to manage wagers on 2020 Breeders’ Cup horse races

Consider not even offering future bets on the 2020 BC. Your pay per head sportsbook software includes a horse race betting platform, though. That will allow you to provide horse races betting on the 2020 Breeders Cup.

Making winning horse bets is hard. But it’s not impossible, and horseplayers, professional horse bettors, know how to construct profitable wagers. Make sure to do three things to ensure you don’t lose profit. Set both max betting limits and max winning limits. Also, set max payouts.

Offer wagering on the 2020 Breeders’ Cup

As big as the Kentucky Derby is, you stand to make more racebook profit on the two-day Breeders’ Cup Event and the Breeders’ Cup Classic. If you have trouble promoting the Classic, name drop Bob Baffert and Tiz the Law, the most popular trainer and most famous horse running in the thoroughbred industry today.

If you aren’t a PayPerHead bookie, make sure to import your players. You can take part in our $3 per head for 3 months promotion, offer two live wagering platforms, including Live+ with video streams, and use the Agent Payment Solution that allows you to pay and collect online. You can also take part in the best referral program in the per head industry.
