2022 NFL Week 1 Bookie Betting Recap

Bookie Tips: NFL Week 2 Preview and Sportsbook Management Advice

NFL Week 1 saw its share of surprises. Denver, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Tennessee, and San Francisco all lost.

Pay per head sportsbook agents who didn’t set max limits on the Seahawks, Browns, Giants, and Steelers money line may have lost a few bucks. Those who didn’t lay off money line dollars on teams like Cincinnati, New Orleans, Denver, and Philadelphia, four of the most overplayed teams in NFL Week 1, pocketed a few bucks.

As we head into NFL Week 2, it’s always a good idea for bookie website proprietors to use their layoff account when applicable and set money line limits on all teams in all games. That said, check out this week’s slates of NFL games and a bookmaker software move for each contest.

2022 NFL Week 2 Schedule

  • When: Thursday, September 15 – Monday, September 19

Bookmaker Software Tips for NFL Week 2

Thursday Night Football – September 15

Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs -3.5

The Chiefs looked great when laying 44 onto the Cardinals in a smashing 44-21 win. The Chargers had the Raiders on the ropes but allowed Derek Carr and Vegas to rally.

Still, both teams covered. KC versus LAC usually ends in a field goal difference or less.

Consider: The line might inflate by kickoff on Thursday. Set max limits on both money lines if it doesn’t. For sure, set max limits on the Bolts’ ML. The Chargers always play the Chiefs tough.

NFL Week 2 – Sunday, September 18

Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens -3.5

The Ravens didn’t allow Lamar’s issue with Baltimore ownership, Jackson didn’t sign an extension, to screw up their week 1 plan. The Edgar Allan Poes dusted the Jets 24-9.

The Jets had to play with former Baltimore QB Joe Flacco. Miami handled business versus Bill Belichick and the Patriots, beating the Pats 20-7. So far, money is flowing to the Fins.

Consider: Miami is legit. The Dolphins can win this straight up. Savvy players will be all over Tua and his mates. Set money line limits for sure.

New York Jets at Cleveland Browns -6.5

Jacoby Brissett led the Browns to a win over former Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers.

The Jets struggled against the Ravens, which is why Cleveland is a big favorite. But the Browns almost gave up a big lead over the Panthers.

Consider: Talk about inflated lines. Sure, the Browns won as an underdog in week 1. But Cleveland struggled to hold their lead. Flacco will ensure the Jets remain steady. Use your layoff account if players overplay Cleveland, but consider leaving some risk on the table.

Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions -1.5

Jacksonville gave away the game versus Washington. Detroit played a fantastic contest, pushing the Eagles into overtime before losing 38-35.

Consider: Detroit is an overlay at the odds. Jared Goff is a better quarterback than Carson Wentz, and the Jags exposed the Commanders’ defense. Detroit at -1.5 will be the week’s top play for more than one of your players. Set max money line limits on the Lions and use the layoff account.

Indianapolis Colts -4.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Colts did not look good in a game versus the Houston Texans. Indianapolis struggled to a 20-20 tie. Indy should play better, but so should the Jaguars, who had D.C. on the ropes in a road match in the first week.

Consider: Setting limits on the Jags’ money line is a must. The Colts could bounce back and cover, but Matty Ice looked every bit of his 37-year-old self, meaning he did not play great.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2.5 at New Orleans Saints

New Orleans rallied from 16 points down on the road versus their biggest rivals, the Atlanta Falcons, to win 27-26.

Tampa Bay handled Dallas with no problems. The Buccaneers roll into the Big Easy with momentum after crushing the Boys 19-3.

Consider: Offering free betting software is a risk in this game. Set prop limits on Brady against the Saints. Also, set max limits on the New Orleans money line. The Saints have won the last four regular season head-to-head matchups.

Carolina Panthers at New York Giants -2.5

Baker and the Panthers head to New York to take on Daniel Jones and the Giants. NYG head coach Brian Daboll went for 2 versus the Titans, which paid off with a win.

Jones completed 81% of his passes. Mayfield rallied the Panthers to grab the lead, but Carolina’s defense allowed the Browns to score a winning field goal.

Consider: Use the layoff account on action on the Giants. NYG should roll the Panthers in this game. If money heads to Carolina, consider setting max limits. There’s no reason for price per head agents to push their luck. But the G-Men should have no trouble acing this test.

New England Patriots -1.5 at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Patriots had no answer for the tough Miami Dolphins. New England is hoping for a much easier time versus the Steelers.

Pittsburgh beat rival Cincinnati in overtime. But it came with a cost. Reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt is out indefinitely due to a pectoral muscle injury.

Consider: Set max limits on the Steelers’ and Pats’ money lines. The Patriots won’t go off the chalk even though Watt won’t play. This contest could see an up to 3-point line swing from Patriots to Steelers -2 to -2.5

Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams -10.5

The Atlanta Falcons played a great game versus the rival Saints. Marcus Mariota rediscovered some of that old magic.

An interesting note about Falcons versus Saints in week 1: the game pit the two picks from the 2015 NFL Draft. Mariota and the Falcons have no fear.

The Rams are reeling after a 31-10 loss to the Bills in their first game. LAR did not play well.

Consider: The Rams are an underlay. So expect players to dump on Atlanta. The Falcons can cover and possibly even win the game. Consider taking the ATL money line off your betting program. Use your layoff account on the Falcons.

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers -8.5

San Francisco didn’t look good in the loss to Chicago, but the game happened in a downpour. SF should be more prepared than Seattle.

The Seahawks upset the Denver Broncos. The win had more to do with the Broncos’ strategy than anything Seattle did.

Seattle QB Geno Smith completed 17-of-18 in the first half and threw a couple of touchdown passes. Geno won’t have the same success versus the 49ers.

Consider: We must believe the Niners are much better than they showed. San Francisco can cover the spread. But use the layoff account and set max limits on the Hawks’ money line.

Cincinnati Bengals -6.5 at Dallas Cowboys

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott not only had a terrible game against the Buccaneers, but he injured his thumb.

Dak is out for at least 6 weeks and could sit on the bench for up to 8 weeks. Joe Burrow had one of the worst first halves in NFL history in his week 1 game.

Joe Cool bounced back in the second half, but the Bengals couldn’t close the deal on the Steelers and lost overtime.

Consider: Dallas’ defense didn’t play great. Neither did the Cowboys’ offense. But this is a home game for Big D. Set up bet alerts for both teams and use your PPH services tools and features depending on which team attracts the most action.

Houston Texans at Denver Broncos -9.5

Both teams played great in NFL Week 1. Denver should have beaten Seattle. The Texans should have upset the Colts.

In NFL Week 2, the Broncos will be looking to make amends. Denver has a shot at dominating the Texans. 9.5 points is a ton, though.

Consider: If week 1 proved anything, it’s that online bookie software agents should take nothing for granted. Set max money line limits on all underdog teams, including the Texans.

Arizona Cardinals at Las Vegas Raiders -5.5

The Cardinals’ defense is a mess. Arizona allowed 44 points. The offense played well, considering Kyler Murray missed his top target, DeAndre Hopkins.

But, wow, the defense was terrible. Derek Carr rallied the Raiders to an almost victory versus the Bolts.

Consider: Las Vegas is the better team. The Raiders should cover. Use the layoff account to take some risk off Vegas bets on the spread line. Also, set max limits on the Arizona money line just in case The Valley gets it together.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers -9.5

Aaron Rodgers went 22-of-34 with a pick and zero touchdowns when losing to the Vikings. Green Bay’s defense had no chance against Minnesota’s offense, yielding 23 points.

The Bears played a fantastic game when upsetting the San Francisco 49ers in week 1. In NFL Week 2, Chicago should devise a game plan to control the clock.

Consider: This projects as a much closer game than many expect. Rodgers struggled without Davante Adams, who now plays for the Las Vegas Raiders. Use the layoff account if required and set max limits on the Bears money line.

NFL Week 2 Monday Night Football – September 19

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills -9.5

The Bills blasted Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams 31-10. The game happened at SoFi.

So Buffalo is legit. Tennessee couldn’t beat the New York Giants. The Bills should roll in this, but the Titans tend to bounce back after bad games.

Consider: Set ML limits on the Titans just in case they play lights out. Use the layoff account on Buffalo.

Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles -1.5

Seattle’s roster isn’t close to Denver’s. But many players will look at the odds and refuse to lay the -6.5.

Consider: Online bookies must set max limits on the Eagles and Vikings to win this game. Minnesota’s offense is terrific. Philadelphia is at home. Both teams can score. Vikings versus Eagles should be epic.

Like every NFL week, NFL Week 2 has its fair share of pitfalls. Sportsbook software agents should use available tools to make as much money as possible.

One more piece of advice is to set parlay limits. Limit parlays to 3 or 4 teams max. Also, online bookies should use their layoff accounts and take risk off the table for every NFL game.

The league has too much parity to mess around. So take some risk off even if it isn’t one-hundred percent of your exposure.
